AZIZA – SMILE THAT HIDES SORROWS / LIFE STORY
Aziza is a single mother and a skillful gardener living in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Her life is a continuous struggle but she does not give up.
Two of 10 videos in our Scraps of Hope -project, combining Marjaana Jauhola´s ethnographic research in the city of Aceh, Indonesia and me as a documentarist. Videos are shown in various conferences and will be part of Marjaana´s monography in the VOB e-book format.
Rest of the videos tell stories of a transman, ex-combatant/present Sufist healer, a wanna be divorced woman, a christian chinese woman, a middle class entrepreneur woman, head of a sharia department & feminists of two generations.
